Manchester United consider bid for Ayoze Perez

Published 2 Comments

Manchester United scouts are continuing to track to progress of Newcastle United star Ayoze Perez, according to the Evening Chronicle.

While Newcastle United have experienced a disastrous start to the season, the tricky attacker has continued to impress despite a chronic lack of service.

Having originally cost the Magpies £1.5million to sign from Tenerife in 2014, a series of impressive performances put Perez up there with some of the Premier League's best ever bargains.

It has also attracted the attention from some of England's biggest clubs and Steve McClaren was forced to fend off interest from Tottenham Hotspur in the summer transfer window.

Fergie's a fan

Sir Alex Ferguson has sung Perez's praises in recent weeks, paying particular attention to the Spaniard's quick feet, according to the same report.

The former Manchester United manager does not hold a position of power at Old Trafford anymore, but the decision-making big-wigs would be silly to ignore the opinion of such a legendary figure.

Perez knows

Speaking of the reported admiration from Ferguson, Perez told Marca: “We all know Sir Alex Ferguson and how big he was for football.

“They are big words that I have to prove so much. But I’m young and I have a long journey. I work so everything gets better.”

Always hungry for profit, Newcastle United's controversial owner Mike Ashley would surely jump at the chance to make a hefty profit on Perez. However, with the club looking like early favourites for relegation, the Magpies may have no choice but to sell come the end of the season.
