Usually when two people get engaged it leads to congratulations from friends, family members and co-workers.

But, whilst WWE Superstars Rusev and Lana likely received well wishes from the majority of people when their real-life engagement became public this week, there is one man said to be unhappy with the situation.

As reported by the Wrestling Observer, via NoDQ, Vince McMahon is apparently displeased with the way things have unfolded.

According to the publication, the WWE CEO, whilst not necessarily unhappy with the engagement itself, is believed to be unhappy with the fact that Rusev and Lana's wedding plans were brought to the public's attention by TMZ.

The former in-ring team have been in a relationship for some time outside the ring, but have been on separate sides of a romance-fueled feud in recent weeks - the characters involved with Summer Rae and Dolph Ziggler, respectively.

Vince has always preferred his wrestlers maintain their character away from the WWE as best as they can.

Complications

Clearly, with TMZ's story, this has thrown something of a spanner into the works regarding Rusev and Lana's storyline.

The WWE have now acknowledged the engagement on their official website, but it would be interesting to know if they would have published the story had the WWE Universe not already known about it.

With the WWE already struggling to maintain characters and wrestler personas in the modern, social media orientated world, this is perhaps yet another sign that Vince McMahon is stuck in the past.

He hasn't always been the most understanding of bosses, but to get angry at two people getting married is not a good look for the WWE's head honcho.
