James Wilson could be the fastest player at Manchester United

Published 6 Comments

Who is the fastest player at Manchester United? Antonio Valencia, Luke Shaw or Anthony Martial, perhaps? Well, on the evidence of this latest video, it could well be the club’s young first-team striker James Wilson.

The 19-year-old performed a 40-yard dash for the YouTube channel ‘F2Freestylers’ and recorded a lightning-quick time of 5.0 seconds - a pretty impressive showing from the teenager.

“Wow :-o To run 40 meters in 5.0 seconds flat is seriously fast!!” F2Freestylers posted in the comments. “To put this into perspective the fastest 100m runner in the world can do it in about 4.6 seconds! We didn't really believe the hype around James Wilson's pace, but now we can honestly say he showed why so many people say he is RAPID!”

Wilson is widely regarded as one of the most promising talents to have emerged from Manchester United’s youth academy for years.

Ryan Giggs handed the teenager his first-team debut against Hull City during his interim spell in charge of the Red Devils, shortly after the departure of David Moyes, and he responded by scoring a brace.

Wilson should be loaned out

Louis van Gaal then handed Wilson 17 first-team appearances last season, but the striker only managed to score two goals - a disappointing return for both the England Under-21 international and his manager.

After Van Gaal forked out £36 million on Martial at the end of the summer transfer window, Wilson was expected to complete a loan move to Derby County. However, that failed to materialise and the youngster currently finds himself in limbo at Old Trafford.

The Daily Mail reported earlier this week that Celtic could take the striker on loan for the second half of the season; a temporary move away from Manchester United is likely to be hugely beneficial.
