When Hazard joined Chelsea
Eden Hazard is the arguably the most influential Chelsea star of the current crop, but he could have just as easily joined Manchester United back in 2012.
The Belgian’s former Lille teammate, Tulio de Melo, has revealed the exact moment Hazard opted for the Blues, despite the fact he already had a verbal agreement with the Red Devils.
Melo told how Hazard met with Roman Abramovich on the Russian’s yacht during the Cannes Film Festival - when he returned, he told his old teammates he was convinced about the transfer.
"[Hazard] already had a verbal agreement with Manchester United, but there were other clubs wanting him," Melo told ESPN Brazil.
"But one day, Chelsea's owner [Roman Abramovich] had his yacht in [Cannes]. We [Lille players] were preparing ourselves to watch a film in the [Cannes] festival when Hazard appeared and said: 'I can't go with you guys, because I have a meeting with my agent and Abramovich right now'.
"They went to [Abramovich's] yacht and when he returned, we were all having dinner in a restaurant.
"Hazard arrived with a wide-open smile and said: 'Well, I think I'll go there [to Chelsea], I think he convinced me'. Right after that, they finished the transfer and he went to play for Chelsea."
New low for the Special One?
Meanwhile, Mourinho’s controversial season hit a new low recently when he was filmed pushing a schoolboy on a bike who was trying to film him.
The clip comes courtesy of The Sun, so we’ll let you make your own minds up about him ‘losing the plot’, but it does pose a question.
Mourinho v Wenger
Bringing up the rear we’ve got Mourinho taking a perceived dig at Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger after the Blues’ 0-0 stalemate with Dynamo Kiev.
Earlier on in the season Wenger branded Premier League referee Mike Dean ‘weak’ and ‘naive’ after Arsenal’s loss to Chelsea.
Mourinho wasn’t happy with the man in the middle during his side’s Champions League game last night. You won’t guess what he labelled him.
