Joseph Duffy is out of the main event at UFC Fight Night 76 after suffering a blow to the head in training.
After undergoing precautionary medical tests, the fighter has been deemed “not fit to fight”.
Duffy addressed the situation with a personal message to his fans, posted on his own Instagram account shortly before 11pm on October 22.
It is certainly a blow for the event, and, whilst fans are upset to see the fight no longer taking place, it is safe to say one UFC fighter has seen an opportunity.
The interim featherweight champion himself, Conor McGregor, waded in on his own Twitter account with an offer to fight:
Poirier himself has allegedly declined any other bout, citing that he wishes to wait for the fight to be rescheduled.
Meanwhile, MMAFighting.com reports on the announcement that co-main event combatant, Paddy ‘The Hooligan’ Holohan, will now headline the UFC Fight Pass event.
He will take on American Louis Smolka in a Flyweight contest – an Irish headliner that ‘Conor ‘Mystic Mac’ McGregor preached should have been in the main event all along.
