Manchester United fans, welcome to the last round-up of the week.
We’ll confess we’re just as ready to embrace the weekend as you are, but before we do so there’s some breaking news to relay for your enjoyment.
Below is the latest information we could find on your club. Pretty please take the time to read it, perhaps watch the video above if you want the news presented to you and leave thoughts and opinions in the comments box below.
What better way to kick off the day than with a transfer bomb concerning Lionel Messi?
According to The Sun, Manchester United are just one of a few top English clubs who believe the Argentine magician can finally be pried from Barcelona after 14 years in Catalunya.
Hard as it is to digest, it’s claimed informal approaches have been made to Messi’s representatives in recent months, with one unnamed club having made contact twice in the last seven days.
Just in case there’s any confusion we don’t think Messi is about to become Louis van Gaal’s next big signing, but credit for originality all the same.
Here's a tweet from Guillem Balague for all you other non-believers.
'Evil' winter break
On to team news, and Van Gaal himself has spoken about English football’s lack of a winter break, describing it as ‘evil’.
The Dutchman attributed the problem to the reason both English clubs and the England international team are struggling in major competitions and said it should be changed.
Smalling for next captain?
Lastly, Chris Smalling is in line to become United’s next captain after Wayne Rooney. Before you ask, no, we’re not making it up.
The word comes directly from Van Gaal himself, who said that once Rooney and Carrick were gone the Red Devils wouldn’t have to find a new skipper because Smalling was there. Talk about a rags to riches story.
