Liverpool fans have spoken and they want Mamadou Sakho to be their captain moving forward. Alright, we’ll admit it, that’s only the opinion of fans on Twitter, but all the same it’s an interesting concept given that the French defender was widely chastised for the first few months of his Anfield career. During and following last night’s Europa League draw with Rubin Kazan, Liverpool supporters voiced the idea of Sakho becoming the new skipper - yep, sorry Jordan Henderson - and the notion got more backing than most people would believe possible. Tweets ranged from suggesting that current stand-in skipper James Milner wasn’t as suited to the position as Sakho to outright declaring that the centre-back might even be better in the role than Henderson himself. There were plenty of offerings on social media, not that Jurgen Klopp is going to take much notice, and if nothing else it proves that the 25-year-old is now a firm fan favourite.
