Chelsea want to sign Atletico Madrid forward Antoine Griezmann next summer, while Diego Costa could return to his former employers as part of the deal.
This is according to the Daily Mail, who understand that Costa misses the Spanish capital and could head back to the Vicente Calderon at the end of the season if he asks to leave Stamford Bridge.
Even if Costa ends up staying at Chelsea, however, Roman Abramovich has identified Griezmann as the perfect summer signing to reinvigorate the Blues’ attack.

Griezmann, 24, has scored six goals in nine appearances for Atletico this season and, on current form, is arguably amongst the top five players in world football.
The France international has netted 45 goals in his previous two full seasons - with Real Sociedad and Atleti - and clearly possesses both the talent and mentality to flourish at one of the world’s biggest clubs.
Griezmann would be worth every penny
Atletico have no desire to sell their best player and would demand that his £47 million buy-out clause be paid in full before allowing him to leave the Calderon.
That significant sum of money is unlikely to deter Chelsea who, in return, would be signing a player with the potential to become a Ballon d’Or winner.
Chelsea, of course, already have a player who falls into that category: Eden Hazard.
The Mail add that while the Belgium international does interest both Real Madrid and Barcelona, neither of the Spanish clubs regard him as a priority - presumably because of his below-par form since the start of the season.
An attack featuring both Hazard and Griezmann, however, would be strong enough to seriously trouble the world’s best defences.
Chelsea should do the deal with Atletico
Chelsea fans will obviously want Costa to stay at the Bridge, too, although if it means Griezmann arrives in return, one suspects few tears will be shed if the controversial Brazil-born Spain international leaves west London.
