Liverpool fans celebrate on social media after 3-1 victory over Chelsea

Liverpool fans have taken to social media to express their delight at their club’s 3-1 victory over Chelsea today.

In a match that might well have determined Jose Mourinho’s future for the poorer, Philippe Coutinho notched two impressive strikes whilst substitute Christian Benteke added a third.

It was the home side - Chelsea - who took the lead via an early Ramires header. Liverpool defender Alberto Moreno received much of the flack for that but his blushes were spared as the game progressed.

On the stroke of half-time Coutinho produced a moment of individual wizardry to beat Asmir Begovic from the edge of the 18-yard box.

The flashy Brazilian bested the Bosnian stopper again in the second half with a similar effort to give his side the lead.

It was Benteke’s round-off that sent Liverpool fans into raptures, however.

The Reds will now head back to Anfield in high spirits after recording their first win under new manager Jurgen Klopp, who will, for his part, have been extremely happy with the feedback he was getting on Twitter.

What the loss will mean for Mourinho is sure to become evident in the ensuing days. To sack him Roman Abramovich must pay a hefty compensation fee. Liverpool won’t be too bothered about that, of course.
