Following Saturday’s 0-0 draw against Manchester United at Selhurst Park, Crystal Palace manager Alan Pardew effectively said: ‘If you stop Anthony Martial, you stop Louis van Gaal’s side’.
It’s hard to disagree with the Palace boss right now. Martial has been a revelation since arriving at Old Trafford in a £36 million deal from AS Monaco at the end of the summer transfer window.
Already United’s best attacking player, the 19-year-old appears to possess world-class potential and has already delighted the Old Trafford faithful with a handful of standout moments over the past couple of months.

5. This incredible pass to Jesse Lingard
Last month’s Manchester derby was an underwhelming affair but Anthony Martial lit the match up with a glorious chipped pass to Jesse Lingard, which so nearly resulted in United securing all three points.

Martial proved with this sensational pass that he’s just as capable of creating goals as he is scoring them.
4. Terrorising Everton’s Seamus Coleman
Seamus Coleman is widely considered one of the best right-backs in the Premier League, but the Everton defender was given a torrid time by Martial in Manchester United’s 3-0 win at Goodison Park last month.
The France international showcased his versatility by playing from the left-hand side of the pitch, where he has remained ever since - to the detriment, however, of the team.
3. His header v CSKA Moscow
Trailing 1-0 on a cold night in Moscow last month, Manchester United desperately needed one of their key players to step up and produce the moment of magic to salvage something from the match.
With 25 minutes to go, up stepped Martial, whose superbly placed header left Igor Akinfeev with no chance. Heading, it seems, is another string to the Frenchman’s bow.
2. His brace v Southampton
In only his third appearance for Manchester United, Martial netted a brace against a decent Southampton side at St. Mary’s to help his new employers secure a 3-2 victory.
His first came after a brilliant spin inside the box, while his second came from the result of some poor defending. One-on-one with Saints goalkeeper Maarten Stekelenburg, the final outcome was never in doubt.
1. Debut goal v Liverpool
The moment Manchester United fans discovered their club had signed a genuine star: his magnificent solo goal against fierce rivals Liverpool on his debut.
Martial was sent on for the final 25 minutes by Louis van Gaal and repaid his manager’s faith by roasting Liverpool’s defenders and making sure of the three points with his 86th-minute goal.
