Following Chelsea's 3-1 home defeat to Liverpool on Saturday, Jose Mourinho took the strange decision to hold a meeting with his coaching staff in the middle of the Stamford Bridge pitch.

It was the Blues' fifth defeat in their last seven matches and the speculation Mourinho would soon be given the boot by Roman Abramovich only intensified after the loss.

Rumours were rife that the gathering was Mourinho's way of saying goodbye to his right-hand men. But the Mirror now believe they know part of what the Portuguese boss was saying to his staff, thanks to the help of a lip reader.

The publication believes the 52-year-old warned his team that they can not afford to lose their next Premier League game against Stoke City.

According to the lip reader, the Chelsea manager said: "It's not ... and we need to get it, the next one its really ... make sure ... must NOT lose that one next week."

Mourinho then mentioned Mark Clattenburg's decision not to send off Liverpool midfielder Lucas Leiva: "You know, it's not good and it's the sixth (defeat) but the problem was the ... he didn't give ... the yellow when he ... and I don't know what will happen."

After that, Mourinho stressed the importance of togetherness: "But you must all be together and ... but I cannot say to them that it's not, just erm, not right."

The west London club face Dynamo Kiev in the Champions League on Wednesday night, knowing a win is vital to their chances of reaching the knockout stages.

But given the growing frustration among the Chelsea fans, and the lack of confidence being shown on the pitch, it is sure to be a nervy evening for the Premier League champions.

However, a number of Blues fans still believe Mourinho is the man to take them forward.
