WWE: The four best main roster call-ups from NXT

Published 2 Comments

A number of independent Superstars made the jump to NXT and have gone on to forge some excellent careers in the WWE, while NXT has also created some of its own phenomenal Superstars.

Not every single NXT star makes the jump to the main roster and enjoys a steady ride to the top, some of them have failed to make an impact but there some who have achieved a lot on the main roster.

NXT has changed drastically since it first came onto the scene, gone are the days of the competition where stars try to win a WWE contract as it’s now seen as a brand which rivals both Raw and SmackDown.

Below are my choices on who I think are the best NXT graduates.

I’m looking at the redeveloped NXT not the competition version so don’t expect to see Daniel Bryan, King Barrett or even Ryback on the list.

Let’s take a look at some of the best main roster call-ups from NXT.

Seth Rollins is probably the best NXT graduate in history, he was the first NXT Champion and the first NXT star to go all the way and capture the WWE World Heavyweight Championship.

At one stage it looked as if he would be the one from The Shield who would achieve the least, but the night he turned on The Shield started a new chapter in his now-fantastic career. He’s now the man.

He’s a former Tag Team champion, he’s been part of a dominant stable and he’s the first ever WWE World Heavyweight and United States Champion in history, those are some pretty big achievements.

He’s continued to show why he’s one of the finest wrestlers around and he’s improved drastically on the microphone, the scary thing is Rollins will only grow to be better.

Bray Wyatt does a lot of talking and he does it better than anyone, the only thing is he just can’t seem to get the job done when it matters the most, and that continues to hurt him on the main roster.

Regardless, he’s still one of the best talents on NXT and this addition is a strange one considering he was Husky Harris on the old NXT format. He went back and changed his character completely and he’s only improved from there.

It’s odd that he hasn’t earned a championship match just yet, but that will definitely come at the right time, he’s still got a number of achievements to his name, though. Competing in his first and second WrestleMania’s against John Cena and The Undertaker are no small feats.

Wyatt is definitely one of the best to come out of NXT, and will just get better and better and make those around him improve as well.

Kevin Owens is one of the newer NXT superstars to move up, but he’s already achieved so much on the main roster.

He’s already one of the better heels on the roster as being a jerk seems to come so natural to him which is fantastic to see. When he first arrived he shocked the world by taking out John Cena and even picked up a clean win over him which was a risk that paid off.

Since then he has gone on to become Intercontinental Champion and that’s a very quick rise for someone who became NXT Champion not too long ago by taking out Sami Zayn.

He’s mixed it up with some big names and he continues to impress in the ring, it wouldn’t be a surprise to see him being classed as the best very soon.

Dean Ambrose had a big reputation on FCW and NXT after coming through as Jon Moxley on the independent scene.

Ambrose hasn’t exactly hit the heights we had hoped he would by now, but he should become WWE World Heavyweight Champion soon because he’s simply too talented not to.

He’s had a stint as United States Champion in the past but other than that he’s struggled to reach the level of success Rollins has had.

However, Ambrose is probably the most popular Superstar from NXT as he receives amazing reactions on a weekly basis even if he isn’t in the main event spots or challenging for the World Championship.

He's been some big-name feuds where he has really stepped up as someone who can be the biggest face in the company and if there’s a superstar who can receive a reaction like he does consistently then you know he’s something special.
