Steven Gerrard has excited Liverpool supporters on Instagram with his latest post, confirming he’s on his way back to his home city after LA Galaxy failed to qualify for the MLS Cup play-offs last week.
Gerrard posted a photo of his final meal in Los Angeles, alongside the caption: “Had a great meal in @petrosrestaurant tonight thanks to everyone there for looking us. The last supper 👍🏻 #home #liverpool.”
This prompted Liverpool fans to speculate that Gerrard could be on his way back to his beloved former employers for a loan spell under Jurgen Klopp.

The possibility of Gerrard returning to Anfield on a temporary basis, before the 2016 MLS campaign gets underway again in March, has been mooted in recent weeks.
However, it’s not yet been reported that any formal talks have taken place, while MLS commissioner Don Garber was quoted as saying “I don’t think so” by the Daily Mail in September when asked if Gerrard would be heading back to Liverpool after the conclusion of the 2015 MLS season.
Fans excited by potential Gerrard return
But there’s no doubt that the majority of Liverpool fans would be overjoyed to see Gerrard back at Anfield for a month or two.
One fan on Instagram wrote: “Yes he is coming back @stevengerrard.”
Another replied: “Hes coming home, hes coming home hes coming, gerrards coming home! @stevengerrard 💖⚽”
And another supporter sent this message: “Gerrard, you are just the best. I am reading your biography at the moment and I am absolutely loving it! I believe every word! I know that this is just another comment of thousands!( probably millions) but on behalf of all Liverpool supporters I would like to thank you for always being loyal to the club and all of us.
“Plz come back to Liverpool mate, even if it means retiring to be a manager or coach we need you here. I bet on Ironside Road you never thought you would be at this point in your career! Thank you and LFC on! @stevengerrard”

Gerrard return could be a masterstroke
Gerrard, now 35, is not the all-action midfielder he once was, but there’s little doubt he would still be capable of doing a job for Liverpool if Klopp wanted him at Anfield in the New Year.
Furthermore, his presence at Liverpool would give everyone associated with Liverpool a huge lift, even though spirits on Merseyside are already high following Klopp’s impressive start.
