Just eight weeks into the 2015 season, another NFL franchise has parted ways with their head coach.
Another bites the dust
That's after the Tennessee Titans, via an official press release, announced that Ken Whisenhunt has been relieved of his duties this afternoon.
The Titans find themselves rock bottom of the AFC South after winning just one of their first seven games. Nevertheless, with Whisenhunt just 23 games into his time in charge, today's announcement has come somewhat out of the blue.

“After thoughtful consideration, the decision has been made to relieve Ken Whisenhunt of his head coaching duties,” Amy Adams Strunk, Tennessee's controlling owner, said.
“We have expected more progress on the field, and I felt it was time to move in a different direction. I would like to thank Ken for his efforts with our team, as he worked very hard to try to move us forward.”
Whisenhunt leaves Tennessee just one-and-a-half years into a five-year contract. His assistant head coach, Mike Mularkey, will take over as interim HC moving forward.
Although the announcement has come out of the blue, it is easy to see why the Titans hierarchy have opted to take a different path.
Under Whisenhunt, the franchise won just three games and, as summed up by the below tweet, they never got any sort of momentum going:
And, with a sense of frustration growing in 2015 after hopes had been high following the arrival of Marcus Mariota in the draft, it is fair to say the majority of Titans fans are happy with Whisenhunt's exit.
