Steven Gerrard linked with shock return to Liverpool

Published Add your comment

We don’t want to get too many Liverpool hopes up before dashing them in the near future, but reports this morning are claiming that Steven Gerrard is set for a sensational return to Anfield. Before supporters lose their minds it’s not yet been made clear if it would be in a playing capacity or simply in a role designed to allow Gerrard to take his next step in football, but one thing has been made abundantly transparent: Klopp wants him back. The Independent claim Klopp and Gerrard have had numerous phone calls of late, with Gerrard first and foremostly set to train at Melwood until January 15, when he is due to report back to LA Galaxy. Meanwhile, Klopp has been given another boost by Anfield chief Ian Ayre, who said the German was in charge of all Liverpool’s transfer business moving forward. There had been criticism in the past over Brendan Rodgers’ transfer committee, but it appears that’s been ditched and Klopp will have the final say on all deals.
