Willian praises Chelsea teammates after win over Dynamo Kiev

Published 2 Comments

Willian, clearly buzzing after inspiring Chelsea to a vital 2-1 win over Dynamo Kiev on Wednesday night, has taken to Instagram to express his emotions.

The Brazil international, hailed as Chelsea’s best player of the season so far by fans and pundits alike after he scored a wonderful free-kick and provided an assist against the Ukrainian outfit, thanked God and praised his teammates for coming together to seal what could prove to be a huge result for both the club and their under-fire manager Jose Mourinho.

It looked set to be another difficult post-match press conference for Mourinho when Aleksandar Dragović, who scored an own goal in the first half, scored the equalising goal with just over 10 minutes left to play at Stamford Bridge. But Willian secured all three points with his moment of magic in the 83rd minute.

No player in the Chelsea squad has been more effective than Willian this season. Without him, it’s possible the Blues would be out of contention to secure qualification for the Champions League knockout rounds, not to mention lower down in the Premier League table.

After the win over Dynamo Kiev, John Terry also took to Instagram to praise his in-form teammate, writing: "Great win and so important picking up 3 points tonight. Congratulations @willianborges88 who has been superb all season ⚽️ @chelseafc #championsleague #cfc."

Willian's teammates need to step up now

But Willian can’t continue to be Chelsea’s only source of goals. Other players - Eden Hazard, Diego Costa, Oscar and Cesc Fabregas, in particular - must step up and produce the goods over the forthcoming weeks.
