As reported last night, Seth Rollins is out for up to nine months with an ACL, MCL, and a medial meniscus tear in his knee, meaning he will have to relinquish the WWE World Heavyweight Championship.
Rollins caused the tear during a WWE Live Event in Dublin, Ireland, on Wednesday night and he was scheduled to go up against Roman Reigns at Survivor Series on November 22. But due to his injury, a tournament to determine a new champion will now take place instead at the pay-per-view.
According to NoDQ: "Dave Meltzer speculated on today's installment of Wrestling Observer Live that Roman Reigns is a strong candidate to capture the WWE title at Survivor Series," and, therefore, a standout favorite to win this tournament.

He also said: "In regards to Sheamus capturing the WWE World Heavyweight Championship, he said it's not very likely," despite the fact he is the Money in the Bank contract holder.
Problems with Reigns and Sheamus
Sooner or later, The Big Dog was going to win the WWE World Heavyweight Championship, and the ideal situation would have been at WrestleMania and finally getting the better of his former friend who turned on him, The Architect.
This whole feud, to begin at Survivor Series, was being built for that very moment at next year's WrestleMania. However, this can no longer happen, as Rollins' return date is after the WWE's biggest show of the year.
Even if Rollins was healthy, I still don't think Reigns would have defeated Rollins for the title at Survivor Series. It still feels too soon for him, and he needs to be pushed a little bit further before claiming the title.
As for Sheamus and his Money in the Bank contract, I don't think he'll cash in just yet. WWE needs someone to be a champion that is going to be a draw for people to watch the programming and Sheamus, unfortunately, isn't the biggest name for that. He's better off working with King Barrett for the time being.
Daniel Bryan For Champion
The person I would like to see win the WWE World Heavyweight Championship at Survivor Series is Daniel Bryan. Right now, he is doing promotion stuff for the WWE and a return would generate such a huge pop and talk across social media, it would drive people back to watching the programming.
There are rumors of John Cena and Brock Lesnar returning, and they could all feud with Bryan, but it should be The Submission Specialist holding the title at the end of it all, and possibly throughout the entire feud. He hasn't had a decent WWE World Heavyweight Championship reign and he deserves one.
So long as he has been cleared by the WWE doctors to wrestle, this is the direction the WWE should go in. Having Bryan battle against The Authority until the Royal Rumble at the very least, keeping the title out of their hands, is the right way to go.
