Improvement, improvement, improvement. That’s all Manchester United fans will want to hear from Louis van Gaal’s mouth ahead of a potentially crucial January transfer window. The Dutchman strengthened strongly over the course of the summer, and to good effect, and one or two additions at the beginning of next year would hardly go amiss. However, Van Gaal himself has conceded that signings may be hard to find - although he is looking to bring in a ‘speedy winger’. He alluded to the fact that Mata wasn’t quick enough, whilst also pointing out that Jesse Lingard hasn’t got the required pace. Elsewhere, Van Gaal has also claimed that he knew in advance that Marcos Rojo would have problems playing as frequently as United’s fixture-list demanded. The Argentine was subbed in the second-half of the United’s win over West Brom this weekend, with his manager confirming he was aware Rojo would struggle with the recent run of games.
