Chelsea scouts have been watching Valencia striker Paco Alcacer as the Blues prepare to draw up a shortlist of potential January transfer targets.
This is according to ESPN, who understand that a new striker is now top priority for the west London outfit following a disastrous start to the 2015-16 campaign.
Chelsea currently sit 16th in the Premier League table, having secured 11 points from their opening 12 matches, and have scored a paltry 16 goals so far this term - the same tally as Norwich City who, incidentally, are one place above Jose Mourinho’s side.

Mourinho’s current batch of strikers aren’t doing the business at the moment. Diego Costa has scored two goals in 10 league appearances, Radamel Falcao has netted one in nine, while Loic Remy is still looking for his first Premier League goal of the season.
But it’s the form of Costa, the club’s current first-choice striker, that is the major cause of concern for Chelsea.

Costa is becoming a liability
The Brazil-born Spain international has, at times this season, appeared more preoccupied with winding up opponents than scoring goals.
The 27-year-old’s temperament has been a problem for Chelsea since he arrived at Stamford Bridge in the summer of 2014, but the fact he’s no longer scoring goals on a consistent basis means he’s becoming somewhat of a liability.
Alcacer can become one of Europe's best
Alcacer, 22, is a proper goalscorer with the potential to become one of Europe’s best strikers.
The Spain international - who has scored five more goals for La Roja than Costa, despite having made just one more appearance than his compatriot - is currently Valencia’s leading scorer this season with five goals.
Los Che will be reluctant to sell their best young striker, but Chelsea might be able to tempt the Spanish club with a huge offer.
Javier Hernandez could also be an option
The other striker on their radar is the former Manchester United star Javier Hernandez, who has enjoyed an excellent start to life at Bayer Leverkusen since completing his £7.3 million move away from Old Trafford in the summer.
