Jordon Ibe wants to become Liverpool’s Robert Lewandowski

Published 1 Comments

Jordon Ibe hopes that working under Jurgen Klopp will allow him to become Liverpool’s version of Robert Lewandowski.

Ibe cited Lewandowski as an example of a young player who improved significantly under Klopp’s management at Borussia Dortmund - and the England Under-21 international is keen to do the same under his new boss at Anfield.

The 19-year-old scored his first goal for Liverpool against Rubin Kazan in the Europa League last week and several videos that have recently gone viral - which you can view by scrolling down this page - all suggest Klopp has already developed a soft spot for the talented teenager.

"He obviously did a great job at Borussia Dortmund," Ibe was quoted as saying by the Mirror. "The fact that the young players he brought in were a big part of the success is very encouraging for guys like me.

"Of course, those youngsters at Dortmund didn't just become a little bit better either – some of them, like Robert Lewandowski, have become players who are operating at the highest level in the Champions League. Hopefully he can help me and some of the lads here do the same.

"I'm hoping my attributes – pace and strength and being able to go past people – will suit the way he wants to play and I can get some opportunities."

Lewandowski became a superstar under Klopp

Klopp picked up Lewandowski from Lech Poznan in 2010 and within several years he was widely regarded as one of the best number nines in world football.

Since joining Bayern Munich in 2014, the Poland international has cemented his status - in the eyes of many football fans - as the best centre-forward on the planet.

Ibe can become a star under Klopp

Ibe, of course, is a different type of player to Lewandowski but there’s no reason why he can’t improve at a similar rate under Klopp.

A grounded youngster with extraordinary potential, Ibe has every chance of becoming a star of European football with the German coach at the helm.
