Manchester United boss Louis van Gaal could bring a new left-back to Old Trafford in the January transfer window.
The Daily Mail claim that the Red Devils have made checks on Wolfsburg's Ricardo Rodriguez while they're also monitoring Leicester City youngster Ben Chilwell.
Rodriguez, the more established of the pair, has enjoyed a great deal of success in Germany's elite division recently, coming to prominence under the guidance of Dieter Hecking.

The 23-year-old is a Switzerland international and has featured in 11 of Wolfsburg's 12 Bundesliga outings this term, but it's far from certain as to whether the German club would consider offloading him to their Champions League counterparts.
Chilwell, on the hand, is still only 18-years-old, so would represent one for the future for Red Devils boss Van Gaal. The talented youngster hasn't featured in the Premier League for Claudio Ranieri's side this season, but it appears that he is under consideration at the Theatre of Dreams.
But, even without Shaw, do United really need to sign another left-back? In Marcos Rojo, Van Gaal has an established Argentine international at his disposal, so he shouldn't really have much to worry about.
Rojo has enjoyed a steady run in the side and United have benefited from that. Incredibly, the Old Trafford outfit haven't conceded a goal in their last five outings in all competitions and Rojo has played an integral role in their recent success.
Daley Blind and Ashely Young are also more than competent to fill the position, so perhaps the United chief should focus on other areas of the pitch ahead of the opening of the transfer window.
