Jamie Carragher reacts to Manchester United fans during charity match

Liverpool hero Jamie Carragher was the pantomime villain for Manchester United supporters during Unicef’s ‘Match for Children’ charity game at Old Trafford on Saturday.

The 37-year-old, who now works as a pundit for Sky Sports alongside former United captain Gary Neville, was booed - light-heartedly, of course - throughout the match but couldn’t resist reacting to the fans’ banter at one point. (Scroll down this page to see the video).

Carragher turned around to the supporters and waved his hand up in the air (again, it’s important to note it was all in good spirits).

“Won 3-1 in the UNICEF charity game at Old Trafford & was booed for 90 mins as I should be!” he tweeted, alongside a photo of some of the stars who took part, including David Beckham and Ronaldinho.

Carragher was also booed off the pitch...

Carragher was also booed off the pitch by United fans, although there was definitely a smattering of applause from some supporters. See for yourself by watching the following video.

The Liverpool legend might have wished he’d gone to Singapore instead, where the likes of Didi Hamann, Robbie Fowler and Steve McManaman recorded a 2-0 win over Manchester United Masters.

At least Carragher was on the winning team...

But even though he was booed, it seems the thick-skinned Carragher enjoyed the experience.

He was on the winning side as goals from Paul Scholes and Michael Owen helped secure a 3-1 victory for Great Britain and Ireland over the Rest of the World.
