Jose Mourinho has submitted a list of six players he wants Chelsea to sign in January following the club’s dismal start to the 2015-16 campaign.
The revered Portuguese coach is under significant pressure at Stamford Bridge but it seems Roman Abramovich is prepared to give him more time to turn the situation around.
Mourinho wanted to bolster his squad in the summer, despite winning last season’s Premier League title by eight points, but Chelsea officials reportedly felt it was unnecessary. However, having secured 11 points from 12 matches at the start of this term, the reigning champions are expected to make a couple of signings when the transfer window re-opens in the New Year.

The London Evening Standard understand that Mourinho wants Chelsea to make another approach for Everton defender John Stones, although Paris Saint-Germain centre-back Marquinhos is also on the club’s radar.
Chelsea pushed hard to sign Stones towards the end of the summer transfer window but Everton stood firm and kept their man. A huge bid, though, could tempt the Toffees to sell the 21-year-old who has earned comparisons with Rio Ferdinand.

Two forwards on the shortlist
Mourinho also wants to sign a forward as a replacement for Radamel Falcao, whose season-long loan contract could be terminated early, according to a report from The Sun at the weekend.
Atletico Madrid star Antoine Griezmann has been named as a potential replacement for the Colombia international, but the Standard understand Shakhtar Donetsk striker Alex Teixeira and Lyon forward Alexandre Lacazette are both on Mourinho’s wish-list.
Midfielders also on the shortlist
Also shortlisted by Mourinho are FC Porto’s highly-rated midfielder Ruben Neves, who has been linked with a move to Liverpool in recent weeks, and Red Star Belgrade starlet Marko Grujic.
The report adds that, as well as Falcao, £2.7 million summer signing Papy Djilobodji could leave Chelsea in the summer having failed to convince Mourinho.
Michael Emenalo, the club’s transfer guru, could also be given his marching orders after a string of expensive signings flattered to deceive at the Bridge.
