It was their second straight loss and second time in the last three weeks that the defense have allowed over 45 points.
The Saints arguably have one of the worst defensive units in all of football and it has left fans constantly angry at the coaches.
For weeks Saints fans have been calling for it and now it has finally happened, the New Orleans Saints have fired defensive co-ordinator Rob Ryan.
Ryan has spent two years in New Orleans and even built the fourth best defense in all of football back in 2013.
Many fans will now be happy to see the time of the long haired coach is over as the Saints now promote senior defensive assistant Dennis Allen to the role of defensive co-ordinator.
New Orleans now enter their bye week with their defense unlikely to get much time off as they will start their efforts at increase their productivity.
Once the Saints return, it will be interesting to see if their defense has a different look to it but more importantly, if they are more effective against opposing offenses.
Can they carry on?
While the Saints are currently not in line for a play-off place, they will return to take on the Houston Texans who have looked out of form themselves this year.
Houston haven't been the defensive force that many were expecting and with a struggling offense, it could be the perfect welcome back for the Saints defense.
