Rose speaks out over injury
The sight of Derrick Rose leaving the court last night after suffering an ankle injury must have left fans of the Chicago Bulls worried about his fitness.
Well, worry no more, as Rose himself has played down fears over the severity of the injury, stating that it feels like an ankle sprain rather than anything that’s likely to keep him out of action for a while.
"(It feels) like an ankle sprain,” Rose said.
“It’s throbbing a little bit, but that’s not out of the norm.”
Rose didn’t confirm whether or not he’d be available for the upcoming three-game road trip, but it looks like he will.
“That’s too far ahead,” Rose continued.
“Right now I just need to get treatment, put some ice on it for a little bit. After this, just get off my feet and put more ice on it.”
Players of the Week
Meanwhile, Nicolas Batum of the Charlotte Hornets and DeMarcus Cousins of the Sacramento Kings were named as the NBA Eastern and Western Conference Players of the Week today.
The pair took home the accolades for the games played between November 9 and November 15. Congrats to Hornets and Kings fans.
Signora confirms controversy
Across to the NFL, and there’s controversy in the league after spokesperson Michael Signora confirmed that game officials from the Jacksonville Jaguars vs Baltimore Ravens clash had failed to flag the Jags for a false start penalty.
If they had it would have wiped out the game-winning field goal by Jason Myers. It's a tough rub for Baltimore.
Lastly, it has emerged that Peyton Manning is suffering from a torn plantar fascia in his foot that has worsened recently.
The future Hall of Famer has supposedly been playing through the pain this season but might well take time off now to let the problem heal.
Manning was benched at the weekend despite setting a new NFL record for passing yardage against the Kansas City Chiefs.
