Chelsea will have to pay in excess of £30 million to secure the signature of Alex Teixeira, according to the Evening Standard.
With Chelsea on the lookout for a new striker, the report claims that Shakhtar Donetsk will demand at least £30m for the talented forward in the January transfer window.
The Blues' attacking stars have struggled under the guidance of Jose Mourinho throughout the course of the season, so it's not entirely surprising that they are monitoring Teixeira at this stage.

Teixeira is recognised as one of the most exciting forwards in the game right now. In fact, with 19 goals in 13 league games, the 25-year-old is in the form of his life, but Chelsea will have to pay a large sum to bring him to west London.
With the opening of the transfer window just over a month away, it remains to be seen as to whether the Chelsea hierarchy press ahead with a bid for the player.
Ultimately, Chelsea's front three just haven't been good enough this season and the statistics prove that. Diego Costa has two goals in 10 league games, Radamel Falcao has one goal in nine league games while Loic Remy hasn't scored a league goal yet this season.
Costa, especially, has been a major disappointment recently. The Spain international was sublime last term as the Blues coasted to the title. This season, however, he appears to have lost his edge in front of goal. For one reason or another, he seems to be more concerned with picking fights with the opposition rather than scoring goals for his side. Mourinho has to do something to get his leading striker back on side.
The Falcao gamble certainly hasn't paid off; the former Manchester United striker looks to be past his best and it's unlikely that he will ever recover.
In truth, the Blues boss should probably be playing Remy on a more consistent basis. The forward is a proven Premier League goalscorer and deserves more playing time. If Costa continues to fail, then the Portuguese tactician should hand the ex-Newcastle man a prominent role in his side.
