Manchester United face an attacking crisis ahead of their game with Watford on Saturday as Wayne Rooney and Anthony Martial have been ruled out of the trip to Vicarage Road.

Martial injured his foot during France's friendly with England and was seen leaving Wembley on crutches while Rooney is suffering from an unspecified illness.

The duo joins Michael Carrick, Antonio Valencia and Marouane Fellaini on the sidelines while James Wilson's inability to complete 90 minutes leaves Louis van Gaal with a serious selection dilemma.


In other news, United will have to fork out as much as £45 million if they want to land Everton defender John Stones.

Roberto Martinez has insisted the centre-back is not for sale in January, with Chelsea expected to rekindle their interest
