Real Madrid have announced president Florentino Perez will hold a press conference on Monday evening following a board meeting.
Madrid have not given any details about what will be discussed by the board or at the press conference, but it comes amid speculation about the future of under-fire coach Rafael Benitez.
Benitez has only been in charge of Madrid since the summer, but already finds himself under increasing pressure, initially for a perceived negative style of play and now due to Saturday's 4-0 home mauling by arch-rivals Barcelona.
That was a second successive defeat for Madrid - who were unbeaten in Benitez's first 14 competitive games in charge - and left them six points adrift of Primera Division leaders Barca.
As well as turning up the heat on Benitez, the Bernabeu mauling also led to some home fans calling for long-serving president Perez to resign.
With the so-called Madrid 'crisis' dominating the headlines in Spain since El Clasico, the 10-time European champions on Monday announced Perez would be speaking to the media.
A Madrid statement read: "The Real Madrid president Florentino Perez will hold a press conference at 7:30pm CET this evening in the Santiago Bernabeu following the board meeting."
Several names have been touted in the media as possible replacements for Benitez, but one of them, former France and Madrid star Zinedine Zidane, has said he is still not ready to become the club's 14th manager in 12 years .
The 43-year-old, who is currently in charge of the club's B side Castilla, said in AS: "Replace Benitez? I'm the coach of Castilla and Benitez is in charge of the first team. Things are fine at the moment.
"Right now I'm with Castilla. If I stay at the club it is to coach Castilla. At the end of last season I felt that I was still lacking something to take charge of the first team.
"I'm still lacking a lot, and anyway a coach is never ready. I'm doing things little by little and I've no hurry," he added following Sunday's goalless draw with B arakaldo in Spain's third tier.
"The important thing is to be happy day to day with what I'm doing, my present is Castilla."
