Chelsea are becoming increasingly concerned with Diego Costa and could sign a new striker on a short-term deal in January in an effort to help the team secure a top-four finish.
This is according to the Guardian, who understand the Blues will spend the next few weeks considering their options following Costa’s poor start to the season and his questionable behaviour.
The Spain international was involved in a half-time spat with Jose Mourinho against Maccabi Tel Aviv in the Champions League earlier this week - although the Chelsea manager played down the incident after the match - and has only managed to score four goals in 17 appearances this season.

The Guardian believe that Chelsea have little chance of signing either Atletico Madrid forward Antoine Griezmann or Napoli striker Gonzalo Higuain in the New Year - both players are indispensable to their respective clubs.
The west London outfit would also have trouble signing West Brom striker Saido Berahino or the red-hot Jamie Vardy from Leicester City.

The two surprise options: Adebayor and Van Persie
However, there are two options that Chelsea might consider - although fans are unlikely to be overjoyed if either player arrives at Stamford Bridge.
The first is Emmanuel Adebayor, who is currently a free agent after leaving Tottenham in September.
The 31-year-old worked under Mourinho at Real Madrid, possesses a vast amount of Premier League experience and can be a handful when focused and motivated.
The second potential option is former Arsenal and Manchester United striker Robin van Persie, who has failed to settle in Turkey following his summer move to Fenerbahce.
Earlier this week, the Netherlands international told reporters that he had received no offers from Chelsea or Barcelona, but the chance to escape from Istanbul is likely to appeal to the 32-year-old.
Van Persie has been in steep decline for the past couple of years now; however, it could still be argued that he would currently be more effective than the hapless Radamel Falcao and the tempestuous Costa.
