Chelsea could swoop for a striker in the January transfer window amid concerns over the form of Diego Costa.
This has been reported by the Daily Mail, who claim that the west London outfit had previously been planning to only pursue long-term targets in the summer transfer window.
In fact, the Mail suggests that the Blues have a long-term interest in the talented duo of Harry Kane and Antoine Griezmann. The former, of course, is set to star against the Premier League champions on Sunday afternoon, so Jose Mourinho and Co. will no doubt be keeping a close eye on his performance.

However, with Costa failing to produce the goods, it appears that the hierarchy could bring in a short-term option in an attempt to fire the club up the Premier League table.
The Mail claims that the Premier League's leading scorer Jamie Vardy is an option while Saido Berahino of West Bromwich Albion is also being considered ahead of the opening of the transfer window.
It must be noted, however, that the same report alleges that the self-proclaimed 'Special One' is determined to back Costa. A 2014 summer signing from Atletico Madrid, the enigmatic forward was brilliant for Chelsea last season as the Blues cruised to the title.
But things have turned sour recently; with three Premier League goals in 11 games, the Spain international hasn't hit the required level. An argument with Mourinho at half-time during the club's Champions League outing in mid-week certainly won't do him any favours, but it appears that the Portuguese tactician hasn't given up on his No.1 striker just yet.
One thing is for sure, it looks set to be a huge month or so for Costa, who must come to prominence at Stamford Bridge once again.
