If you’re a Manchester United fan today is a day for unfortunate reflection. A 0-0 draw in the Champions League with PSV was hardly inspiring stuff, and more than one former star has taken the opportunity to criticise Louis van Gaal’s current crop. Paul Scholes, perhaps surprisingly, hit out at Anthony Martial, suggesting he didn’t seem bothered when he missed chances. Van Gaal accepted after the draw that United hadn’t been at their best. Meanwhile, Wayne Rooney wasn’t spared the rod either, with Roy Keane blasting him post-match for having a lack of composure and quality. Keane said now that Rooney is captain he needs to shoulder more responsibility.
