A new week, a new discussion and controversy surrounding the Washington Redskins and their continued choice of the name.

The Redskins have created a social media storm after tweeting out what was a probably ill-advised tweet wishing a happy Thanksgiving to their fans on Twitter earlier today.

It went down exactly as everyone thought it would, with an absolutely ferocious backlash that sees even more negative press for a team that is drowning in Bad PR.

Thanksgiving is a controversial topic for Native Americans, with some viewing it as the beginning of the numerous atrocities committed against their ancestors, rather than two groups of people setting aside differences to come together.

Which is why the tweet from the Redskins - which many consider to be an offensive and racist name - has drawn particular ire and comes across as being incredibly tone-deaf.

And then there was those who just wanted the Redskins to terminate their Twitter use altogether...
