Liverpool defender Mamadou Sakho has opened up on his club’s official website about his return from injury - he expects to be back playing for Jurgen Klopp within six weeks.
The French centre-back was enjoying a good patch of form before suffering minor knee ligament damage during Liverpool’s loss to Crystal Palace at the beginning of this month.
Confirmation of return
Initial reports had swarmed around the idea that Sakho would be missing from the Reds’ fold for a lengthy spell. He’s now confirmed though that fans can expect to see him return to action far sooner than they expected.

"I'm very happy because I think it's good news," Sakho told Liverpool's official website.
"Everyone thought I had a big injury for a long time.

"But, thank God, I think it will be between four and six weeks. We will see the evolution. Now I feel much better, I work and I hope I will come back as soon as possible.
"For me, it's not difficult. I take my injury like that because I can change nothing. I know which way I have to go, which road I have to take.
"I have the objective to come back as soon as possible, as strong as possible. When I come back I will try to give my best like before."
Importance of Sakho
Indeed, there’s few who would argue that it isn’t good news. A string of inspired performances pushed Sakho into the limelight after Brendan Rodgers’ sacking and it could be said that he’s the most redoubtable defender Klopp has at his disposal.
Dejan Lovren hasn’t disgraced himself when filling thus far, but there’s little confidence coming from the stands when the prospect of the Croatian playing a major role moving forward is raised.
What the fans think
Instead, it appears to be a partnership of Sakho and Martin Skrtel that the majority would like to see keeping things watertight in front of Simon Mignolet.
With Liverpool aiming to get back into the Champions League - and currently sitting ninth - it’s therefore incredibly important that the former gets back to full fitness as soon as he can.
