The best front three of all time?.

Messi, Suarez and Neymar is the best strike-force in history

Published 5 Comments

Neymar's masterful display against Real Madrid, Luis Suarez's sumptuous volley against Roma and Lionel Messi's brace on his first start in months indicates that Barcelona's front three are in sparkling form. The problem for other sides is that they've been on top form for a while now - there seems to be no way to stop them.

With Messi's recent absence, Barca were predicted to struggle, but with added responsibility, Suarez and Neymar have been playing above their usually incredibly high standard. Now Messi is back they're even better than ever, the question is - are they the best strike-force ever?

Ronaldinho, Ronaldo and Rivaldo

One of the contenders for the best strike-force of all time are this Brazilian trio. They're three of the most talented players to play the game and between them they had everything you'd want from a forward line.

The only criticism could be that they didn't play together often enough to be considered the greatest forward line in history. They never played together at the same club, which means they probably didn't quite have the same understanding as the Barcelona trio.

Their greatest moment was Ronaldo scoring twice in a 2-0 win over Germany at the 2002 World Cup, but that alone stands as their best moment. Through no fault of their own, due to differing ages, these Brazilians didn't quite get enough time together to show what they can really do.

Di Stefano, Ferenc Puskas and Gento

Alfredo Di Stefano and Ferenc Puskas are arguably two of Real Madrid's greatest ever players, so any strike-force with those two must be considered alongside the very best. Together they scored 372 goals in just a few seasons with Los Blancos - some achievement considering the lack of protection forward players received in their era.

You may have noticed the other name mentioned in the list; Francisco Gento was a regular for Real Madrid for many years, but never quite reached the heights of his aforementioned teammates. He was a solid but unspectacular player, the fact that most of you had likely never heard of him probably besmirches the forward line as a whole.

Barca's current three are the best

When it comes to sheer talent and numbers, it's hard to argue against the current Barcelona forward line. The scary thing is, they probably haven't even hit full flow yet. Neymar is getting better every game and Suarez has yet to play a full season with the club. When they get firing to the best of their abilities, who knows what they could achieve.
