Baron Corbin was a part of Smackdown tapings this week as the dark match was advertised as a match between The Lone Wolf and Zack Ryder.

Corbin managed to defeat the long-time WWE superstar in what was described as a solid match. Whilst both superstars are currently a part of NXT, it isn't unusual for WWE to call upon talent for these kinds of matches.

IS CORBIN READY LEAVE NXT?

The NXT star has been a part of their main event storylines for the past few months after he and Rhyno were paired together during the Dusty Rhodes Classic Tag Team Tournament.

After the duo were eliminated from the tournament by eventual winner Samoa Joe and Finn Balor, Corbin went back to being The Lone Wolf  when he double crossed Rhyno during the number one contender Battle Royal by eliminating his former friend.

The two had a back and forth rivalry before Corbin set his sights on Apollo Crews, who he now looks set to collide with at NXT Takeover: London after Corbin lay down the challenge a few weeks ago.

Considering how much Corbin has already accomplished in NXT, could his match with Apollo Crews next week be his last?

DOES WWE'S MAIN ROSTER CURRENTLY LACK DEPTH

It has been made fairly obvious that WWE are currently in the midst of one of their worst ever injury crisis's.

Add to this the fact that Kevin Owens is now current suffering from an illness that was enough to see him sent home from tapings this week and you would see that WWE are about to endure a major superstar shortage.

There is no doubt that WWE will have to call on NXT superstars for The Royal Rumble next year, given that by then they may not even have 30 active stars in the main roster.

But could WWE call up talent before then?

Finn Balor and Baron Corbin were both backstage at Raw and Smackdown this week which began speculation of a main roster debut. Tyler Breeze was a part of dark matches on Smackdown before his call up last month. Could Corbin be set for the same fate? Or is it to soon?
