Liverpool players react on social media after 6-1 win over Southampton

Liverpool fans will be waking up with a spring in their step this morning following last night’s emphatic 6-1 victory over Southampton in the Capital One Cup quarter-finals.

Jurgen Klopp’s men went 1-0 down inside the first minute after Sadio Mane put the home side ahead, but two goals in quick succession from Daniel Sturridge and another from Divock Origi put the Reds 3-1 ahead at the break. Jordon Ibe scored after the interval while Origi completed his hat-trick as Liverpool ran out 6-1 winners.

After the match, Klopp told reporters - per BBC Sport - that he now understands the fuss surrounding Sturridge.

Origi, though, was the Man of the Match. The much-maligned Belgian, 20, was handed a perfect 10 rating by the Liverpool Echo. The Reds will now face Stoke City over two legs in the semi-finals.
