Arsenal fans, a very good day to you all.
The general buzz is getting louder as we approach the January transfer window, but we’re still far away enough at the moment not to be drowned out by it all.
With that in mind, we’ve got a nice blend of rumours and genuine information. Don’t believe us? Read on, or watch the video above, for more.
Gilberto on Coquelin
Arsenal may be without Francis Coquelin, but a former Gunners hero has told Arsene Wenger he will step in to save the day. Fancy a bit of Gilberto Silva?
Well, the Brazilian has revealed he told Wenger he was ready. Obviously a joke, but on a more serious note, Gilberto claimed that Arsenal had failed to properly replace him… until Coquelin’s emergence.
"I told him I was ready," Gilberto said of Wenger.
"Since I left if I am not wrong Arsenal didn’t have a player to fill that role until him. They had some other players in that position like Mikel Arteta, Mathieu Flamini, and before that Cesc Fabregas.
"But not this type of player, the guy who holds the piano to let the others play. I hope he recovers well and in time to help Arsenal this season. They will need him for sure."
In any case, the Frenchman is injured for the time being, meaning someone is going to have to fill the void.
Here are some best bits from both men:
One man who won’t, or, more aptly, can’t, is Santi Cazorla.
The Spaniard is set to be on the sidelines for three months with an injury, it was reported yesterday.
That one could have serious ramifications regarding Arsenal’s Premier League title charge.
Ibrahimovic on Vieira
To finish, it’s back to the Arsenal pool of legends - this time to look at former midfielder Patrick Vieira.
Allow us to elaborate: Zlatan Ibrahimovic has told how the Frenchman is one of his favourite ever teammates, labelling him a ‘monster on the pitch’.
That description, of course, won’t come as much of a surprise to anyone who remembers him from his Arsenal days.
Zlatan picked him above this lot, though, so it definitely says something:
