WWE missed a big opportunity with TLC Divas Championship match

It was officially announced on Raw this past week that Charlotte will once again defend her Divas Championship against Paige this Sunday at TLC.

This was announced following an altercation between Paige, Charlotte and Ric Flair on Miz TV which ended with the Hall of Famer being slapped and the two divas brawling.

MISSED OPPORTUNITIES?

This is Paige's 12th Divas Championship opportunity in just over 19 months, that is more than one every two months. How is that fair to the rest of the Divas in the locker room?

WWE could have brought Becky Lynch into this story even further; if Charlotte had not beaten her best friend last week on Raw then the Irish diva could have been handed a shot at the Divas Championship and turned this match into a triple threat.

The one-on-one match at Survivor Series was below standard when compared to the matches we have seen between the main roster divas over the past few months and it must be a last resort for WWE to want to subject the WWE Universe to the same again.

The fact that this feud is currently headlining the Divas Division whilst Sasha Banks and Naomi are now twerking along with The New Day in order to stay relevant is absolutely abysmal.

DIVISION IN NEED OF A NEW CHAMPION?

It is understandable that WWE wanted to put the Divas Championship on Charlotte after her incredible run as Champion in NXT, they did the same with Paige and it was a rousing success. The only problem is Charlotte is a stale champion.

Ever since she won the title at Night of Champions, her title reign has been more about Ric Flair than it is about her. This week on Raw was no different as Charlotte took, at least, five minutes to reel off all of her father's achievements when he literally had nothing to do with the entire segment.

Now Flair has also announced that he will be at ringside on Sunday, why is he needed? Why don't WWE just give him the Divas Championship, it's the only title he needs to add to him list of accomplishments. There is genuinely no need for him to be there.

He is a retired superstar, he is welcome to come back for a guest appearance once a year or so, but he is on Raw more now than a lot of the main roster contracted superstars. He is overshadowing her career and stopping her from shining alone.

Sadly Charlotte needs to drop the title, she can't do a whole lot more than she is doing now and Paige has been on fire since her heel turn. Let Paige win and go on to feud with Sasha Banks then Charlotte and Becky can have their own rivalry and hopefully Ric will be cut back to Brock Lesnar type appearances.
