The Football Association have banned Manchester United midfielder Bastian Schweinsteiger for three games following an incident with West Ham United star Winston Reid on Saturday.
The German international will miss games against Bournemouth, Norwich City and Stoke City over the festive period, but will return for the crunch clash against Premier League champions Chelsea on December 28.
Schweinsteiger, who signed for the Red Devils in the summer transfer window, appeared to swing an elbow which caught the Hammers ace in the throat.

As reported by Manchester United's official website, the FA released the following statement:
"Bastian Schweinsteiger will serve a three-match suspension with immediate effect after he accepted an FA charge for violent conduct which was not seen by the match officials but caught on video.
"The Manchester United midfielder was involved in an incident with West Ham United's Winston Reid in the 40th minute of the game on Saturday 5 December 2015."
Carrick and Fellaini
Perhaps, then, as United attempt to bounce back after their failure on the European stage, Red Devils boss Louis van Gaal will turn to Michael Carrick and Marouane Fellaini.
England international Carrick, who has enjoyed a wonderful career in Manchester, hasn't quite hit top form throughout the course of the season, so must now step up in the absence of Schweinsteiger.
Fellaini, on the other hand, has failed to secure himself a regular role in the side recently, but may well come to prominence over the next couple of weeks. Despite United's defeat in Germany, the former Everton man was one of the club's standout performers on the night.
Nine points will be the requirement over the next three games, but will this United team deliver?
