Pique referred to Arbeloa, a fellow Spain international, by the derogatory nickname by which he has sometimes referred to in his home country - ‘The Cone’, as in a training ground cone - and told reporters the Madrid full-back was not a friend of his.
But following Real Madrid’s 1-0 defeat to Villarreal at El Madrigal on Sunday evening, Ramos called on his compatriot over at Barcelona to show more respect for his fellow players, even if he doesn’t always see eye-to-eye with them.

"To Piqué I say that he must show respect for his fellow players,” Ramos was quoted as saying by Marca. “Lack of respect creates a bad atmosphere. In recent years we have had good examples like Puyol, Xavi, Raúl and Iker, and we have to stay clear of foolishness.”
Ramos, somewhat diplomatically, then added: "I admire Piqué”.
Pique should probably back down now...
Pique was irked by Arbeloa after the former Liverpool defender claimed “his friend is obsessed with Real Madrid” following the Barça player’s controversial tweet mocking Los Blancos for fielding the ineligible Denis Cheryshev in a Copa del Rey match against Cadiz.
Real Madrid were thrown out of the competition for their oversight, but Pique found the whole situation amusing.
It will be interesting to see whether Pique will now respond to Ramos via the media.
Those two have also been at loggerheads on several occasions over the past few years and Pique might not be able to resist the temptation to bite back.
