Entering at 5-7, Eli Manning and Co. knew that a loss in Miami could be disastrous to their hopes of winning the division.
They avoided the defeat however on the back of a monstrous night for star wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr.
Beckham had 166 receiving yards with two touchdown grabs including an incredible 84 yard touchdown reception.
Manning also came up big in the Giants win as he threw for 337 yards with four touchdown passes and not a single interception.
Beckham's 84 yard reception proved to be the winning score as he put the Giants up by seven with 11:13 left in the game.
Miami - who turned the ball over just once, couldn't respond in the time they had left and condemned themselves to a eighth loss of the season.
The Giants now look more than capable of putting up a fight in the NFC East while the situation in the AFC East became a lot clearer tonight.
With the Dolphins losing to the Giants, the New England Patriots were confirmed as divisional champions for the seventh year in a row.
The Patriots have clinched the division and currently occupy the top seed in the AFC while the Dolphins lie bottom of the division at 5-8.
While focus is narrowing on the teams likely to have the first pick in next year's NFL draft, the Dolphins are still heavy contenders to end up with a top 10 pick.
