Nolito to Arsenal rumours surface

The Catalan press is determined to get Arsenal fans excited for the January transfer window, it would seem.

Spanish paper Mundo Deportivo have updated their narrative concerning Celta Vigo striker Nolito - they’re predicting a scenario wherein the striker helps the Gunners dump Barcelona out of the Champions League.


Most recently it’s been claimed that the forward - also coincidentally a Barca target - could easily join Arsenal in January though Arsene Wenger has played down striker talk as he’s happy with Olivier Giroud.

Mundo obviously aren’t fussed about what he thinks.

Meanwhile, a Nou Camp insider has apparently revealed that Barcelona celebrated after having Arsenal named as their next Champions League opposition.

Ozil to be given rest

Lastly, Arsene Wenger is hoping to give Mesut Ozil a rest over the Christmas period in a bid to avoid risking the Germany international becoming the latest star to fall foul of injury.

This comes from the Evening Standard, who say the Gunners survived a scare following the win over Olympiacos when Ozil reported slight tightness in his calf.

It’s believed tests found no immediate problem, but Wenger is now wary of losing arguably his top performer from this season as he bids to keep pace with title rivals.
