Nathan Ake struck early on after a mistake from Adam Bogdan, while in-form striker Odion Ighalo netted a brace to compound Jurgen Klopp's misery. 

In the aftermath of today's latest setback, fans quickly made their feelings known on social media. In fact, one surprising name cropped up on a number of occasions....

That name? Brendan Rodgers. Oh, how could we forget Klopp's predecessor on Merseyside? So why has the Northern Irishman been trending on Twitter? 

Well, there are two main reasons: some appear to be trolling Liverpool, claiming that Rodgers should return to the club, while fans are seemingly blaming him for the state of the squad he left behind.

Despite the fact that both Chelsea and Manchester United are failing to produce the goods, this Liverpool side will still struggle to make the top four in the Premier League this season. 

Klopp certainly has his work cut out and he must change the dynamic of his squad in the January transfer window.
