Real Madrid president Florentino Perez has already held discussions with his board of directors to sound out the possibility of bringing Jose Mourinho back to the Bernabeu, according to the Daily Mail.
Despite their stunning 10-2 victory over Rayo Vallecano last weekend, Rafa Benitez is still coming under intense scrutiny from both fans and pundits. It now seems as though that pressure has extended to the boardroom.
The availability of Mourinho has only thrown Benitez's future into further doubt with Perez ready to consider re-hiring the Portuguese for the second time. However, he was keen to gauge the thoughts of other directors before making any definitive moves.

However, Real Madrid will have to be quick if they want to bag the Special One. Manchester United are also believed to be keen on bringing him to Old Trafford with the word around the club being that Louis van Gaal's days are numbered.
The Red Devils would have a distinct advantage in that they are a Premier League outfit and Mourinho is believed to be keen to stay in England.
His family are settled in their London home where he is expected to remain on a permanent basis despite his dismissal from Chelsea.
There are also concerns amongst the Bernabeu big wigs that re-hiring Mourinho would be a disastrous decision.
The Portuguese managed to alienate himself from most of the senior players when he departed in 2013, and several of those stars still remain. Having done much the same at Chelsea, his abrasive nature may only serve to harm Real Madrid's title chances further.
But Benitez is still fighting for his job and Real Madrid remain only two points away from La Liga leaders Barcelona. There is no reason for them to dismiss him just yet, but you can't put it past Real Madrid to do such a thing.
