Arsene Wenger has revealed Arsenal are planning a busy January transfer window as they go in search of their first Premier League title since 2004.
Historically, the Frenchman has been reluctant to make major moves in the winter but has conceded his side are short on numbers - especially in midfield - heading into the business end of the season.
The Gunners sit top of the Premier League and face defending champions Barcelona in the Champions League round of 16. They also play Sunderland in the FA Cup third round as they look to make it a hat-trick of successes.

Basel's Egyptian midfielder Mohamed Elneny is expected to be their first signing of the window and, with a number of first-team players sidelined through lengthy injuries, further additions are expected.
As per the Mirror, Wenger said: "I'll be busy, that's for sure. I'm already busy and I said already one month ago we are a bit short to deal with all the competitions we face, especially in midfield. We will be busy, yes."
Santi Cazorla, Jack Wilshere and Francis Coquelin are out of action and will not return for some time, and Arsenal's frailty in midfield was exposed during their 4-0 defeat at Southampton on Boxing Day.
Coquelin's influence has been missed the most as the midfielder's all-action style of play proved vital in helping the north London outfit record the highest win percentage in their history during a calendar year.
Sitting at the summit of the table, Arsenal's fate is firmly in their own hands and new additions could be the catalyst for the Emirates outfit taking this unpredictable season by the scruff of the neck.
So far no team has produced a title-winning run of form and, but for some indifferent results at crucial times, Arsenal could be in a much stronger position. Although, top of the table heading into 2016 is not too bad.
