2015 was a year where WWE was shown up for a number of reasons and the success of its developmental brand; NXT, was just one of them.
In professional wrestling, there are very few athletes, storylines or gimmicks which take off quickly and prove popular in such a short space of time.
For NXT, however, this proved to be the exception as, during the past 12 months, the branch set the standard for what it means to please all fans of professional wrestling.

From Finn Balor to Samoa Joe and Bayley to Sasha Banks, the brand boasted so many popular, talented wrestlers that WWE's main roster had little to answer back with.
2015 saw the start of NXT's success worldwide as it set off away from its home of Full Sail university and embarked on a tour which eventually ended in several UK locations being sold out.
Whether it be an NXT superstar, a member of WWE's Authority or a devoted fan from the WWE Universe, everyone appeared to take a step back and admire the success of the brand throughout all of last year.
With this in mind, 2016 will surely hope to prove to be no different in terms of what NXT achieved during 2015.
Its wrestlers, if anything, will go on to achieve even bigger titles and as a result, make the name of NXT even more well-known worldwide by becoming respected superstars on the main WWE roster.
In the Women's Division, NXT has the unstoppable force of Bayley, as well as the talent of Asuka, who should certainly not be written off by any means for the year ahead.
These female wrestlers put on performances throughout 2015 which were instantly memorable and as such, quite the opposite of what the WWE Universe has been used to seeing from the main roster.
When Bayley became NXT Women's Champion in 2015, it made fans emotional and connect with someone who lives and breathes wrestling and, as a result, made them believe in women's wrestling once again.
As for the rest of the NXT roster, the company has Finn Balor and Samoa Joe under its wing. Two incredibly talented and again, undoubtedly popular wrestlers who WWE must have big plans for in 2016.
Add to this the likes of Chad Gable and Jason Jordan in the NXT Tag Team Division and it is easy to see that the WWE Universe could well become the NXT Universe by the end of this year.
