United scouting Lukaku
Transfer rumours are transfer rumours and, let’s face it, more often than not they turn out to be nothing more than conjured up hear-say linking in-form players with big teams.
Manchester United fans naturally have to put up with a lot of that, and this month appears to be no different.
Dutch newspaper De Telegraaf claim the Red Devils are scouting Everton’s Romelu Lukaku ahead of a potential move in January.
It’s said the Toffees would demand £35m if United do move for him, with Van Gaal having had Old Trafford staff watching the Belgian. United do need a striker, it’s true, but there can be doubts cast fairly easily.
Carragher on Rooney's mileage
Meanwhile, Jamie Carragher stoked the fires of controversy, by suggesting Wayne Rooney has the mileage of a 35-year-old.
Rooney’s just 30 now, but has struggled this season - Carragher said the fact that his professional career began at 16 is taking its toll.
Ronaldo has no plans for coaching role
Lastly, Cristiano Ronaldo’s future may or may not include Manchester United - depending on which publication you prefer to read - but one thing’s for sure, it doesn’t look set to include coaching.
The Real Madrid phenomenon has confirmed that he has no plans to turn to another role in football after he hangs up his boots, instead hinting that he will focus on his brands and line of clothing.
