As a general rule, we try not to listen to much that comes from the Daily Star, but a report in the paper caught our attention this morning.
They claim, in an exclusive from Chief football writer David Woods, that Arsenal are interested in a move for Watford forward Troy Deeney. Right.
In fairness to the 27-year-old forward, he's enjoyed a fine campaign so far in partnership with Odion Ighalo, and has managed six goals in his last 11 Premier League matches. The Star claim that Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger is 'weighing up' a bid as he searches for a forward to bolster his attacking unit for a title push.
The Star go as far as to suggest that a £20 million bid from Arsenal for Deeney would do he job. So there you have it. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang or Karim Benzema aren't the men for the job, but Deeney is.
Such was the surprise around the story that is started trending across both Facebook and Twitter this morning.
As you'd expect, Arsenal fans have taken to Twitter to express their incredulity over the latest rumour involving their team.
One wrote: "We're signing Troy #Deeney for 20m?? Safe to say the silly season has kicked off!", while another added: "The media must be having me on if we wanna sign Troy Deeney". You can check out the best of the response from Arsenal fans below.
The Gunners have more pressing concerns to deal with in the January window as they look to address problems in their midfield following injuries to Francis Coquelin, Mikel Arteta and Santi Cazorla.
Basel midfielder Mohamed Elneny is set to become Arsenal's first signing of the window in a £7 million deal that should be confirmed in the next few weeks.
