Borussia Dortmund midfielder Ilkay Gundogan would cost Liverpool in excess of £22 million.
This has been reported by The Sun, who claim that the Liverpool hierarchy will have to pay a huge sum to reunite manager Jurgen Klopp with the Germany international.
Gundogan, of course, is recognised as one of the leading midfielders in the Bundesliga, but only has 18-months left on his current contract at Signal Iduna Park.

Liverpool are in need of reinforcements after a tricky opening half to the season. Despite the emergence of Klopp in the dugout, the Reds have failed to produce the goods on a consistent basis.
In fact, Liverpool currently sit in eighth position in the Premier League table - 12 points behind table-toppers Arsenal.
Liverpool must act
Ultimately, then, it's crucial Klopp manages to add to his squad sooner rather than later. Despite this latest report from The Sun, it's surely unlikely that they will manage to secure the signature of Gundogan this month.
The revered midfield ace would certainly prove a major coup for the Reds chief, but he will be well aware that Dortmund won't give him up without a fight.
Liverpool should probably look elsewhere over the coming weeks and step up their pursuit of Gundogan in the summer.
Will Klopp eventually bring Gundogan to Liverpool? Have your say below!
