Thierry Henry has claimed it would be “madness” if Lionel Messi doesn’t win the 2015 Ballon d’Or award this month - but the former Barcelona star isn’t too happy with the final three.
Messi finds himself up against teammate Neymar and Real Madrid superstar Cristiano Ronaldo for the coveted individual accolade, but Henry is baffled why Luis Suarez failed to make the podium.
Suarez played an instrumental role in Barcelona’s treble success last season, scoring 25 goals in 43 appearances, but that was not enough for the controversial Uruguayan forward to make the top three for the first time in his career.

“I think it would be madness if [Lionel Messi] doesn’t win the Ballon d’Or,” Henry told Barcelona’s official website. “He deserves it because the team won another treble.
“But what I don’t understand is why Suarez isn’t there.”
Ronaldo over Suarez?
Suarez is there because Ronaldo, the current holder of the Ballon d’Or, scored a magnificent 61 goals in 54 appearances for Real Madrid.
He may have failed to win one of the three major trophies at the end of the season, but his goalscoring tally was enough for the Portuguese star to secure his place on the podium for the eighth time in nine years.
Messi and Neymar had to make final three
Neymar, meanwhile, also played a pivotal role in Barcelona’s treble success but scored 39 goals in 51 appearances last term.
And Messi, the firm favourite to win a record-breaking fifth Ballon d’Or, netted 58 goals in 57 matches.
